They are the focus of every day living and contain more varied elements than other rooms. The many levels of decoration and possibilities for colours and fabrics means that these rooms are also hard for a client to describe in a brief.

Furniture and accessories can also be painstaking to model in these rooms. The many free-flowing curves and ornate fabrics of some furniture items, such as lounge chairs and sofas, can be unusually difficult to model in 3D.This can also be particularly true for pieces such as indoor plants and sculptures, which have minute detail but are often a major part of a Rendering or 3D Animation.

What is good about building these scenes in 3D is the scope for creativity. This is usually in the small items and artwork that enhances what may be an incomplete design brief. The difference between a 3D Image that you would admire and one that you feel you could really live in is the same difference between a passing conversation and an actual sale.

Real Views in 3D Scenes

This 3D Rendering shows the real view from the development. There are two methods to achieve this; as a flat 2D image applied to the background or as a 360-degree panoramic photograph wrapped around like a drum. Both techniques have advantages and disadvantages, ranging from a lower price to a better result in 3D Animations.

A simple 2D image put into the scene is the easiest to do, as the single shot can be taken in many different inexpensive ways. Unfortunately using this method means the view cant move with the 3D Camera if you wish to animate the scene. If a 3D virtual camera changes direction it becomes obvious that the backdrop is merely a flat face.

The location and photography costs to get 360-degree panoramic images are higher than normal photography as the final result sees everything in the horizontal plane. This method gives the best result for 3D Animations as when the Virtual Camera turns the view adjusts accordingly.
