Residential interior 3D checklist
This checklist is for interior areas such as an apartment, condo
or house. Naturally if there are items here that aren't seen in
the renderings then you don't need to provide them.
Plans and the structural 3D model
You can supply the plans in almost any CAD format, or even as
a PDF file. To create the structure of the 3D space we need:
- General floor plan to scale and with at least overall dimensions.
- Internal elevations of cabinets, shelves and other fixed
furniture.
- Ceiling and bulkhead plans, especially if you have features
within the ceilings.
- Window and door types/designs.
- Skirting, architrave and moulding details if there are any.
- Bathroom fittings and fixtures.
- Tapware.
- Door furniture (door knobs, etc) including that of cabinetry.
- Location of air conditioning grills if you want them shown.
- Balcony and handrail details if they are seen within the
renderings.
- Staircase and handrail designs.
- Appliances such as stoves, cook tops, etc. Normally brochures
have excellent pictures and most manufacturers now have extensive
websites.
Hard surface colors and textures
- Flooring types and textures. You can provide this as digital
pictures that we will translate into 3D. All carpets, floor tiles,
edging, etc must be supplied to us as digital pictures.
- Wall colors and textures. The best place to get us colors
from is www.colorcharts.org,
a website that has most colors on it and allows a simple translation
for us.
- Skirting, architrave and moulding colors.
- Cabinet colors and textures. If you are using a wood grain
then we need a digital picture of a sample.
Furniture
- All furniture such as sofas, tables, etc needs to be shown
to us as a digital picture inclusive of it's color, surface
or fabric. If the picture you have is the correct piece of
furniture but the color or fabric is different then all you
need to do is supply the finish you want and show us where
it goes.
- Curtains need to be defined with a sample of the fabric and
the finished style.
- Rugs need to be supplied as a whole digital picture and identified
on the plan.
- Accessories such as ornaments and plants need to be identified
and located.
- Light fittings, ceiling fans, down light designs.
Other
- Views that will be seen from the windows. These
would ideally be a panoramic 360° photograph but simple
wide-angle shots will suffice for basic animations.
