Q? That guy who owns the place has an odd accent, where is he from?
A. Steve Bell is an Australian, who left his native soil some time ago. He frequently commutes from the Bahamas to the USA and other locations, depending on where the meeting or briefing is that day or week.
Oh, and Bianca, A USA citizen, is originally Romanian, just so as we keep you on your toes.
Q? How long does the process take?
A. Maybe a better question is "how long is a piece of string?".
Every project at Archiform 3D is vastly different, as while we will still do something as small as a house, we often do large scale projects that require extensive design, feedback, development and modification.
A simple answer is that if you have a house and have everything ready then we could have it done in a week, but if you have a large community with mixed use buildings and lots of input required then it could take 6 weeks or even longer.
Something to note is that the time spent making modifications and experimenting with ideas on some projects takes considerably longer than the actual production time.
Q? What format will the videos and animations be in?
A. Our standard delivery is high-definition 1080p at the industry standard 24 frames per second. This is normal for TV commercials/shows and standard high-define broadcasting.
We can also deliver to 4K resolution but may charge slightly more to do so.
Q? What resolution will you deliver the images at?
A. Resolution is a loose term that can be interpreted many ways and also misused by many. Our answer to this is simple – you can have as much resolution as you desire and we do not restrict size, DPI or overall scale.
We've got you covered!
Q? How many renderings or seconds of animation will I get?
A. We don't set about a project based on how many images we will give you. We go about setting up a perfect scene in 3D and everything else is more or less a by product of that scene. This means that we don't know how many renderings or how much video we will be delivering as the real question to be posed is "how much do you need?".
A single scene of a hotel or resort lobby might need 3 renderings to portray it completely, all of which you may use or you may just choose one – it all comes down to your needs.
As far as fly-through animation goes, we will do a draft video and will determine the best length of footage then, delivering whats needed.
Q? How much do we charge?
A. We work and price differently to other companies. We don't work on a per rendering or per second price, we work on a scene by scene basis. To you this means you get a price that more accurately represents the work that goes into a project. It also means that you may get more for your money.
The process of pricing your 3D work is simple; you provide us with some plans or sketches of the areas and give us an idea of what you would like to see. It's also important for us to know if you want a full 3D animated presentation or just still renderings. If you order an animated presentation then you get your still images included by default.
Some Examples of the Pricing Process
Here are some samples of what we would need and how we would price certain projects:
A high-rise development - 3D animations and images.
Let us assume you want animations and renderings of the development, both inside and outside. Normally there would be the building, a pool area, a lobby and one or more apartment interiors. To price this job we would need plans or rough sketches of:
The building exterior.
A site plan.
A plan of the lobby.
A plan of the apartments that you need created.
After we price the 3D we may also suggest things like some additional video editing, some special effects, a scale model or illustrations. Everything in your submission would be broken down into components.
A resort or themed development
Archiform 3D specializes in unique projects and this type of project is always different. The main thing to consider is what we are creating on the inside and outside and just giving us basic sketches or plans that we can use to get an idea of the project. A site plan showing the overall layout and some typical elevations are enough for pricing purposes. The same goes for interiors - just send a sketch of the floor plans covering the areas you need created.
Just like for high-rise projects you will get an itemized submission.
How Quickly Will You Get Your Submission/Quote?
Depending on the complexity of the project it takes between 30 minutes and 2 hours to prepare a proposal. Sometimes it is even faster and if you have the time to spend on the phone it can all be priced, optioned documented as we talk. We can also price jobs at your office if we have to. So depending on our workload that day you could have your price easily within 24 hours, itemized and ready to sign off as a purchase order.
