Why 3D Animated Video is Made from Frames, or multiple 3D Renderings

Most people have made a small animated cartoon by drawing stick figures on the bottom of notbook pages and fliping them over to see a simple animation. Video that you see anywhere in the world is just like that - a series of images being played back quickly - normally between 24 and 30 frames per second depending on where you are and what you are watching.

This means that a 3D animation needs to be compromised of the same thing, which amounts to multiple 3D renderings for each one second of video footage. It can take a lot of time to render each frame so we use a "render farm" to help the process along.
