The Porsche Design Tower project in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida provided an opportunity to support one of the most innovative residential towers ever developed. Having previously collaborated on Trump-branded real estate, I was thrilled to be a part of such an innovative and ambitious project. The tower, developed by Gil, was truly unique in its design, featuring three internal car elevators that take residents' cars, and occupants, up to their condo and places it inside their personal high-rise garage.
When Gil approached me in 2011 to be a part of the Porsche Design Tower project, I knew it was going to be something special. The idea of the car elevators was truly groundbreaking and I was excited to be a part of such a revolutionary concept. Despite the initial scepticism from some in the industry, Gil's vision for this project was clear and unwavering. He was determined to prove that big ideas and dreams can have viable and successful outcomes.
The project involved virtual construction of the building and vehicle elevator systems, allowing the team to test concepts, engineering solutions and operational workflows before construction. This allowed the team to experiment with ideas and technology from both mechanical and practical viewpoints. We worked through multiple elevator designs, analysing each one and then animating each to examine the intricacies of each.
Presentation material was also prepared for local authorities, a critical phase for a building that had no previous design reference at the time. My contribution helped to ensure that the project received the necessary approvals to move forward.
After approvals, we moved into interiors, allowing Gil to examine the designs and ensure his ideas were on track. The Porsche Design Tower project was truly a testament to Gil's visionary thinking and determination. The "norms" were broken, established ideas turned on their head, and the results were stellar. It was an honor to be a part of such a groundbreaking project, and it serves as a reminder that with hard work, dedication, and a clear vision, anything is possible.
