Project Details

The Finca Elena project is a single storey residential community located in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. Nestled into tropical elevated hillsides, this project required me to digitally map the terrain in order to shape the allotments and roads in 3D. Working closely with our client, Alejandro Brito of Brito Development, and Randi Miller, I developed the visualisation package while contributing to the interiors, landscape presentation and refinement of the overall development concept to ensure that the final product was of the highest quality. 

 

One of the unique aspects of this project was the use of drone footage to assess the site. I captured footage of the area and then digitally tracked it in 3D. I then composited this footage with the 3D model to create a stunning aerial video of the site prior to construction. I particularly enjoyed this aspect of the project as it allowed me to create a realistic representation of the site and showcase the design in a unique way. 

 

The home designs in this project were designed to be hurricane resilient and able to run disconnected from local services including water and electricity for some time. This was an important aspect of the design as it ensured that the homes would be able to withstand severe weather conditions and still be livable for the residents. 

 

I enjoyed working on this project as the client gave me the freedom to redesign on the fly if I found anything that needed improving. This allowed me to be creative and innovative in my approach to the design. Finca Elena remains a strong example of combining terrain analysis, visualisation, site planning and marketing imagery into a cohesive presentation package.
